Marmion Marine Park, Western Australia
Marmion Marine Park is a beautiful marine sanctuary which lies directly offshore from Perth’s northern suburbs, between Trigg Island and Burns Beach. It was the State’s first marine park and was declared on 13 March 1987. The park has great natural beauty and is one of Perth’s most important areas for aquatic recreation. Swimming, snorkelling, scuba diving, boating, fishing, surfing, kayaking, kite surfing, windsurfing and stand-up paddle boarding are all popular activities enjoyed in the marine park.

Can I fish in Marmion Marine Park?
Yes, you can fish throughout the Marmion Marine Park. There are only 3 Marine Sanctuary Areas areas in the park where fishing is prohibited: Boyinaboat Reef, Little Island and Lumps Sanctuary (See green areas in maps above). Spear fishing is not allowed within 1800m of the shore, and all normal fishing seasons apply.

Marmion Marine Park is home to an amazing array of wildlife and there are great diving and snorkelling sites accessible straight off the beach, or by boat. The beautiful warm climate in Perth, means that diving in Marmion Marine Park is perfect all year round, and the clear, clean water attracts a huge variety of fish, crabs and shell life. Close to shore there are a variety of lagoons and sea grass beds, full of colourful and unique wildlife, while a short trip by boat can take you to the outer reef, where you will find giant brain coral formations, sea ledges, caves and even shipwrecks.
